O&H Mobile Welfare Unit Conversions – You’ll be surprised by what’s on the inside

Mobile Welfare Units, also known as Welfare vehicles, Welfare buses, crew vans and mess vans, are an efficient combination of transport and amenities built into one robust and compact vehicle. O&H Vehicle Conversions have experienced great success and market support with their durable Welfare conversions since their release in 2013. Their mobile Welfare units have been particularly popular with the construction, rail, facilities and hire industries where they are used to support transient workforces often operating in remote locations. O&H Welfare vehicles provide the crew with a comfortable space to complete their paperwork, take a break, prepare/ consume hot food and beverages and use the facilities.

O&H’s compact Welfare vehicle conversions, now available on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Renault Master, Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, Citroen Relay, Iveco Daily and Ford Transit, boast up to eight seats, kitchen, toilet and washing facilities. In the saloon area the crew can benefit from the 2.5 litre water boiler, hot and cold running water, wrist to elbow stainless steel sink, microwave, 15L compressor driven Travelbox fridge, first aid box, safety hammer, fire extinguisher, hand gel dispensers, entrance grab handles and power outlets for charging mobile phones or laptops. The vehicles also utilise a number of existing O&H innovations including modified interior mouldings and a window originating from O&H’s Ambulance range.

O&H mobile Welfare units feature up to eight fully tested seats; most competing conversions only have seven. Five of these seats are situated in the saloon and are sited around a large table. The other three are located inside the cabin.

The rear section, accessed through the back double doors, includes fully functioning environmentally friendly toilet which collects and disposes of all waste hygienically. There is also a stainless steel hand wash basin with hot and cold running water and under sink waste collection, drainage and coat hooks. The design can also be configured to replace the basin area with an overhead shower and add additional storage, if needed. This compartment is fully heated and has a specially designed area to dry any damp or wet clothing. The rear section is ideal for heavy-duty use as it is fully sealed, non-slip and every surface is covered in a durable sprayed-on coating which ensures it can be power-washed clean.

The electrical equipment on board is powered from two deep-cycle batteries through a inverter, where mains current is needed, but can be shore lined where mains power is available. A BatteryGuard in fitted so that the batteries cannot be drained below starting voltage. O&H uses also PIR-triggered lighting over the rear doors to prevent unnecessary battery drain.

Another key USP, apart from the high standard of finish, is that O&H registers the van and has the conversion approved which further demonstrates their commitment to Health & Safety. O&H Vehicle Conversion vehicles comply with all current health and safety regulations (ECWVTA) and have M1, M2 and N1 approval.

At O&H, the customer is the focus of everything that they do. So it is vital that any vehicle is seen and experienced; this is why O&H are supported by the OEMs and have their own fleet of demonstrator Welfare units.
