Commercial Mover of the Year

JT & Sons Relocations are immensely proud to have retained the prestigious title of ‘Commercial Mover of the year’ (CMOTY) 2014/15, at the British Association of Movers (BAR) annual conference at the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow; this has been a meteoric rise to the top.

JT & Sons were formed in December 2008 by Jenny and Timon Thorncroft; application to BAR and its Commercial Moving Group (CMG) was made during 2010 and approved in January 2011.

As specialist commercial movers they enthusiastically entered the Commercial Mover of the Year competition with only ten days left to complete their entry documentation. The industry was astounded when they were awarded a ‘certificate of merit’ in the 2011/12 competition; they repeated this feat in 2012/13. Things really hotted up in 2013, when they won the title for the first time despite stiff competition from the many long established members of CMG.

This meant enquiries and business increased exponentially, Jenny and Timon appointed Lee Austin as a director in recognition of his support towards the success of the embryonic company. The resulting business meant the team were pushed to the limit and the directors embarked on a training programme enabling their operational team to grow, whilst maintaining the skills required to deliver service with the usual JT & Sons panache.

Having won CMOTY in 2013, it was particularly important for JT & Sons Relocations not to become complacent when it came to their clients in both the private and public sectors and the high quality of customer service and delivery standards. For this reason they decided to cite some regular clients for the testimonial part of the CMOTY 2014 competition. Jenny explained, “Some of the clients chosen we work with on a regular basis, we felt these companies would be a good test to establish that we have not become complacent” some new clients with one-off moves were also selected, to offer a good mixture of clients and feedback.

Following a record year, the team eagerly completed their application for the 2014/15 CMOTY event, again the moving industry were astounded as JT & Sons defended their 2013 award and retain the title of ‘Commercial Mover of the Year’. JT & Sons is a family based organisation, and its youngest member six year old Dillon Thorncroft was on hand in Glasgow to receive the CMOTY 2014/15 trophy along with other members of the team.

Jenny and Timon are incredibly gratified by their teams’ consistency of service; saying “including all staff in the quality of service and rewarding excellence is definitely paying dividends”. The management are continually striving to provide and improve its level of service, often using valued feedback from clients. This coupled with sustained investment in industry standards, currently including ISO 14001 Environmental Management, ISO 9001 Quality Management, BS 8522, a bespoke British Commercial Moving Standard, some of the team hold the IOSH Institution of Occupancy Safety and Health standard and the directors are Prince2 registered practitioners.

JT & Sons operate a very different business model, which they feel contributed to both their growth and award success, they would welcome the opportunity of discussing their modus-opernadi call 01580 831706 or find information about our services on our web site www.jtsrelocations.com.

The success of the company has meant that the company moved to larger premises “Phoenix House” on the Kent, Sussex border; Jenny and Timon say this is the next step in a continuous successful and managed growth programme. 2014 is already looking to be another record year, Timon and Jenny are confident of another assured entry to the 2015/16 CMOTY event.
