FM the Business Enabler? – calling FM experts to join the industry debate

A top line-up of industry specialists will debate and share knowledge with delegates at Facilities Management 2017 on how FM can move from a cost centre to a business enabler. Facilities management is too often seen as a cost and liability to a business. But forward-thinking businesses are using FM as a competitive differentiator, and for these leading organisations, FM is an asset not a liability. The event takes place at the NEC from 21-23 March 2017.
In the FM Dialogue theatre, the debate will focus on whether FM should be sector rather than service line based; the blueprint of future FM business models; who are FM’s natural business partners in an organisation and who poses a threat?; what are FM’s values and how can this be communicated to UK PLC?; what makes a good FM and how should we train the next generation of facilities professionals?
Industry experts will discuss the future of FM, from vested outsourcing to market structure; how can we bring more innovation to the FM sector and what are the typical routes for innovation; and how to improve the brand of FM within the board.
Visitors can pose their questions and discuss their burning industry issues with experts from a range of leading organisations including NHS Grampian, KBR, and Sheffield Hallam University. There are still a few opportunities remaining for key FM professionals to join the debate and if you’d like to make your opinion count, please contact Cathy Hayward at cathy.hayward@magentaassociates.co.uk by Friday, 27 January 2017.
Under the theme FM: the Business Enabler, the show’s two theatres will showcase content, which will educate and inspire visitors to challenge the way they think, change the way they operate, and collaborate with partners to innovate. FMs will take back to their organisation the knowledge, tools and techniques to make an impression on the business and bottom line.
This year’s show is under the new ownership of Western Business Exhibitions, and the event director Tim Else commented: “The FM Dialogue area promises a series of lively panel debates where delegates can discuss the issues of the day with their peers and experts. We hope that delegates will take this as an opportunity to really focus their understanding on strategic, operational and economic need to support the wider business objectives.”
