The Portakabin Group is to exhibit its Yorkon off-site building solutions at the Academies Show for the first time. The event is the largest in the UK dedicated to academies and will take place on 30th April 2014 at Excel in London.
The Portakabin Group will be presenting its turnkey Yorkon construction solutions which have been used extensively by schools and academies across the UK to provide high quality inspirational learning environments.
Academies such as Ninestiles School – an outstanding ‘convertor’ academy in Birmingham and Woodbrook Vale High School in Loughborough – have benefited from Yorkon building solutions.
The Portakabin Group has a long track record in the education sector, and a wealth of experience having completed a wide variety of school buildings built to the highest standards – in less time, with greater certainty of delivery on time and on budget, and requiring fewer management resources from the school.
The Group can construct facilities tailored to an academy’s exact requirements, from a single classroom and extensions to existing buildings, through to complete schools. Its in-house services include full project management, architectural design, ground works, planning, health and safety, fitting out, landscaping and commissioning, as well as the off-site manufacture of the steel-framed building structure – ensuring every project is completely hassle-free.
“We have seen a significant increase in demand for Yorkon building solutions from schools and academies to help address place planning issues”, said Portakabin Group Director, Simon Ambler. “We can radically reduce programme times compared to site-based construction, for earlier completion and occupation. There is also much less disruption to the running of the school and improved site safety because so much of the building work takes place off site in a controlled factory environment. These are important advantages for the delivery of new education buildings.”
“And because the Yorkon approach is to create high quality, bespoke buildings, we can construct landmark, state-of-the-art education facilities that meet the precise requirements of an academy or school, to help inspire teaching and learning.”
“The Academies Show has given us a unique opportunity to bring together our team of off-site construction specialists to offer advice to education professionals about procuring a modular building and how to deliver inspirational learning environments more quickly to help address the increasing pressure on school places.”
The Academies Show is a one-day event to explore opportunities for the role of academies in the education landscape and will cover all aspects of effective teaching, learning and school management. It will feature a highly informative conference, seminar discussions, networking sessions and the opportunity to meet over 150 expert education specialists. There will also be contributions from the Department for Education and the Education Funding Agency.
